For anyone visiting Zanzibar

As per 1 October 2024 every tourist needs to get a mandatory travel insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Coorperation (ZIC) before traveling to Zanzibar. This is also the case if you already have travel insurance. Not having this extra insurance can result in you being denied entry to Zanzibar. The cost of this is U$44 per person.
The website where you should be able to obtain the insurance from is: https://visitzanzibar.go.tz/
We recommend to organise this well before you are scheduled to travel across to the island to avoid any issues such as not being able to get internet access etc. You should be issued with documents once you have purchased the insurance and we recommend to have a printed copy and proof of purchase with you when you travel to the island.
In case of any issues with the site we recommend reaching out to ZIC directly on their email: inbound@zic.co.tz
