Windhoek to Windhoek Safari Overview

Heading out to Southern Namibia there is the chance to partake in rare and exciting opportunities with Namibian wildlife and people with Na/a'an ku se.
Wildlife Volunteers will experience a very hands on approach to wildlife conservation. From acting as surrogate mother to the many baby baboons, to walking alongside various wildlife, to the general care, maintenance and upkeep required on a farm of this nature. There is also the opportunity to help out with the Clever Cubs preschool, helping the children of the San Bushmen get ready for mainstream school.
Carnivore Conservation Research Volunteers get the chance to head out to a choice from one of two rural release sites in the Namib Naukluft region and monitor the wildlife. Mapping the terrain, setting and monitoring camera traps and security and if the timing is right, getting involved in capture, mark and release of an animal back into the wild.
Medical Volunteers will head over to a purpose-built bush clinic in Epukiro to assist with the primary care facilities available there to the local San Bushmen. Depending on medical experience this can include running the reception and dispensary facilities, assisting the doctor and nurses or even taking on a project of your own (experienced qualified medical professionals)
Equine Experience Volunteers is the chance for experienced riders to care for the on-site horses from feeding and mucking out to training foals and taking the horses on long rides through the bush. You will also get involved in the modification and improvement of enclosures for all the horses.

Visa

Visa
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 - 9 months after your trip finishes. Ensure as well you have adequate pages in your passport for each country you visit. Up to 2 consecutive blank pages can be required. If you have dual nationality you can only use one passport for the entire trip, whilst bringing both is wise as a back up. More information can be found in the different country listings on the FCO website under entry requirements.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has advised us that work visas are necessary for volunteer placements in Namibia and need to be arranged in advance. This is a requirement for all volunteers who are non-Namibians.

Once you confirm your booking with us, you will receive the visa application form, along with clear instructions as to what to fill out and provide with your visa application.

We advise using a Visa agency in Windhoek to process your application as other than the UK and Germany, many of the Namibian Embassies in other countries may not issue the correct visa. The cost of your work visa is N$ 892
Do note that you will need to get a certified copy of your passport to be able to obtain the visa.

Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for your visa and for further information please contact absaf@absoluteafrica.com
